Action Details

Windlaw miss an early chance when Carey latches onto McCann's cross but Scotsman's keeper saves. Scotsman begin to settle, but most of their creative play is coming through Davie Blair's craft from left back. Windlaw take the lead in 25 minutes. A through ball catches out the Scotsman offside trap and sees Eck McCaig scampering away free down the right wing. He cuts insides the box and unselfishly slides across the goal for the onrushing Benny Carey to tap home. Scotsman were reeling and came close with Lunny saving brilliantly from an angled shot inside the box. However, minutes from the break Windlaw go 2 up through one of the goals of this, or any other season from the hugely talented Kevin McCann. From a free-kick from the left the ball bobbled about the box before McCann spectacularly overhead kicks home for an outrageous goal that the Scotsman keeper barely saw. Amazing stuff again from the genius.

Half Time: Windlaw 2 Scotsman Bar 0

Playing against the wind, Windlaw's performance improved and Scotsman couldn't get the clear cut chances required to seriously trouble the home defence. Davie Blair then saw red for a second bookable offence for a foul on Eck McCaig who had to limp off afterwards. Windlaw were now carving out good chances and Carey sealed the points by superbly flicking past a defender at the edge of the box before slotting low past Scotsman's keeper. More chances were created to make it more emphatic as Thornton and Wullie Wilson hit the post and bar respectively and Joe Motherwell had a late shot well blocked. Scotsman scored a superb consolation with 10 minutes left as their midfielder beat 2 players and crashed home a fantastic shot in off the underside of Lunny's crossbar from 25 yards.

Full Time: Windlaw 3 Scotsman Bar 1

Summing Up - Windlaw's better discipline and attitude won them this game. Scotsman tended to concentrate on the ref's performance rather than their own, and although they are a talented side, we ourselves have been down that road too often to know how it affects our performance. When working hard and concentrating, the difference in this performance and the Lochend defeat was night and day.
