Half Time: Windlaw 2 Lochend Utd 0
Windlaw start poorly and begin sniping at each other while the visitors take heart. Lochend pull one back when their skipper's looping header from a corner amazingly evades the entire Windlaw defence and drops into the back of the net. Soon after, the equaliser arrives when a speculative long shot from a cleared corner that is heading harmlessly for a goal-kick is deflected past John Lunny by an outstretched Lochend foot. For a spell, the game was tense and it seemed the next goal would seal it. With around 15 minutes left Lochend got the clincher when their right-midfielder bursts into the Windlaw box from a wide position and as he looked set to square it, he blasted it directly inside Lunny's front post from an acute angle to spark wild celebrations. Windlaw looked beaten and despite some late pressure, never got the clear-cut chance they sought to take the tie to penalties.
Final Score: Windlaw 2 Lochend Utd 3
Summing Up: Lochend's second half attitude won them this one. They got the breaks their hard work deserved. Problems galore for Windlaw. A willingness to blame other players and bicker internally continues to haunt this team rather than a proper self-analysis of the individual's own performance, which would surely seve them better. The hard work in beating Vale Utd to win this trophy last season was undone in 45 minutes of poor discipline, passing and shape. Good luck to Lochend for the remainder of the tournament.
