3rd September 2005
Barlia Sports Complex
Windlaw AFC 6
Campbell,Carey(2),K.McCann,McCaig(2)
Shettleston Utd 1

Star Man: Eck McCaig - Two games and two MOM performances. Superb link up play, if only he could finish.

Action Details

Windlaw dominate from the off and squander three good chances in the opening minutes. After 20 minutes, the home side go in front when Darren Campbell notches his third of the season with a looping header from a long throw. The goals then flow quickly as Carey grabs two,one after fine work from Kevin McCann who also scores from the spot after being upended in the box.

McCaig grabs the other ending a superb five pass move. His link up play was superb, dropping deep and picking up some fine passes from the ever impressive Chris Kerr.A point of note must be Chris Kerr's first half tackle in his own penalty box which was as hard and fair and well timed a tackle as Barlia can surely have seen.Different class.A rout at the break at 5-0.

The second half was a total non-event.Shettleston improved and continued to plug away for a goal with Windlaw not getting out of the traps.McCaig ran through and bagged Number 6 and Colin Carmichael came on for his first competitive appearance since growing his mullet.Shettleston grabbed a deserved consolation in the final minute, netting from a 20 yard free-kick for the final action of a relatively one-sided affair.

Verdict: Windlaw's fine first half display killed it, as Shettleston's inexperienced youngsters wilted. However they battled well second half despite a lacklustre Windlaw showing. Next week's Shawbridge test is a big one.
