Action Details
Greenbank take lead in first minute. An inswinging corner from Colquhoun flies directly into the top corner for a nightmare start to Windlaw’s season. Minutes later, Windlaw equalise, a McCann throw is met by Wullie Wilson’s head and glanced beautifully into the corner.
After 25 minutes, Windlaw’s Docherty is red carded and Greenbank start to turn screw but Windlaw take lead minutes later as Thornton taps in Eck McCaig’s parried shot for an easy finish. Minutes later, Greenbank equalise as Colquhoun beats McInally at edge of the box and from 20 yards, smashes home a superb strike into Lunny’s top left hand corner.
No further scoring until half-time.
A fired up Windlaw go in front on 65 minutes as Thornton’s superb cross from a quickly taken free kick on the left is powerfully headed home by McCann. Lunny then produces a superb save, tipping over Roy Dale’s shot before the same player hits the post from close range as Greenbank threaten. Greenbank are then reduced to 10 as the influential Colquhoun is sent off for his second bookable offence. Windlaw finally get breathing space and wrap it up on 80 mins through Star Man McCaig’s close range finish.
Verdict
Excellent away win at what will be a difficult venue for many sides this season. Windlaw’s more organised approach and determination in the second half ensured the points returned to Castlemilk. Credit to Greenbank as well for playing the game in the right way. They look a fine side.
