Two changes after last week’s Scottish Cup disappointment in Stonehouse with Tam Simpson and Zanda Dougall both unavailable, Chris Carr came in at left-back with Wullie Wilson moving to central defence. Thomas Taylor replaced Simpson in the engine room. Jamie McCrae’s side had by their own admission been short of a number of players for the journey up the M77 and this would make a difficult day even tougher.

Incredibly Windlaw took the lead in only 10 seconds in what must be one of the quickest goals seen at Barlia. Ardeer took centre then Greg Johnstone won a tackle as the ball was played back. First time,he played in Danny McKenna whose low shot beat the keeper for a dream start. For the visitors it was the beginning of an awful day and five more were added before the break from Greg Johnstone,Danny McKenna and Chris Hepburn as Windlaw interspersed some great football with moments of sloppiness.

Half Time: Windlaw 6 Ardeer Rovers 0

With the outcome now a formality, Windlaw struggled to keep the momentum going after the break and for the first twenty minutes of the second half they couldn’t get going at all and the scoring dried up. The introduction of all three subs freshened things up and gave the team fresh impetus. This was bad news for Ardeer as late in the game Windlaw again helped themselves to another flurry of goals that were too plentiful to record with the Ayrshire men grabbing their sole consolation from a well worked corner. The final whistle would have been music to the ears of the visitors. We wish them all the very best for the rest of the season.

Full Time: Windlaw 13 Ardeer Rovers 1

Verdict: Windlaw Manager Billy Hepburn said "It was a good all round team performance as the score shows. Next step is to be in the fourth round draw." On Saturday Windlaw head to East Kilbride to take on Rolls Royce on league business.

Windlaw Star Man: Although the potent front three indulged themselves in the goalscoring stakes, Chris Carr probably stood out most with a fine display at left-back.
