Another five changes from last Wednesday with Granger, McGeachy, Burns, Wilson and Humphrey all unavailable, in came John Lunny, Chris Kerr, Benny Carey and Allan and Zanda Dougall. Windlaw had only Eck McCaig and Colin Carmichael as subs and both of them were carrying knocks. It was a perfect night for football on a good sized pitch which was a little bumpy but in reasonable nick.

Again, the game had a real end of season feel about it and took a while for both sets of players to get going. The sun facing into the eyes of the Windlaw defenders was causing problems though and indecision was rife at times. Windlaw almost went ahead when Danny McKenna’s quick free-kick found Benny Carey’s head and the downward header was well blocked by Moorpark’s keeper. Danny McKenna then went close himself as he swivelled at the edge of the box and angled a drive just yards past. Moorpark were pressing themselves though and John Lunny had to be on good form at times. On the stroke of half-time as Windlaw retreated a strong run from a Moorpark midfielder saw him crash his shot against the angle of post and bar before the rebound was sliced wide.

Half Time: Moorpark 0 - 0 Windlaw

Moorpark had a bit more of the second half as Windlaw looked jaded and leg-weary. Too often, the front two were isolated with Windlaw unable to get bodies forward quickly enough. Lunny was forced into another couple of good saves while Windlaw were creating little. From a rare good move, Chris Kerr slid in Danny McKenna behind the Moorpark defence but as McKenna latched onto it, the keeper had rushed from his line timing his slide tackle to perfection and clearing it. Any misjudgement would have meant a red card and both players required treatment with the keeper down for a fair bit. Soon after McKenna had to be replaced by Eck McCaig who clearly wasn’t fit himself. On 74 minutes, Moorpark got the winner as Windlaw lost possession down the left wing and the ball was launched over the heads of the Windlaw defence with the forward getting between them and John Lunny. Lunny did well to block the initial effort but the rebound was easily sidefooted home. Even this blow failed to rally the visitors and worse was to follow when Tam Simpson had to go off with a bad looking knee problem to be replaced by Carmichael. Windlaw best chance came in the dying minutes when Taylor’s fine angled ball into the box found Paul McInally’s run at the back post and his clipped cross across the goal bounced off Colin Carmichael’s shin as he slid in and bounced away despite others queueing up to tap home. With that the game was gone and the embarrassment complete

Full Time: Moorpark 1 - 0 Windlaw

Verdict:  With due respect to Moorpark, another real low point in this roller-coaster of a season. Moorpark had won only once and conceded over one hundred league goals prior to this including nine at Castlemilk in the reverse fixture. John Lunny was probably the busier of the keepers and it was an awful performance from a team who look like they need the season to finish straight away.

Windlaw Star Man: Paul McInally had a smashing game and looked like a fresh 21 year old as he rampaged up and down the right wing. His enthusiasm wasn't matched by his team mates
