Referee: John Thomson

Only one change for Windlaw as David McGinlay replaced the injured Duncan McGregor. Great conditions for football on a very good surface with the drizzling rain ensuring the ball zipped about well. Windlaw kicked up a slight slope in the first half.

Again, Windlaw had a good start and swarmed the Busby goal in the opening minutes. Busby’s keeper fisted away a powerful Fitzpatrick drive from the edge of the box. As play settled the contest evened out and both sides talented central midfields were having a good contest as they tried to play good football.

Slightly against the run of play, the home side went ahead on 21 minutes. After a good break down their right wing the ball was cut back to the edge of the box and was struck sweetly into the bottom left hand corner of Lunny’s net. The game got a little towsy with tempers fraying slightly but ref Thomson was always well in charge. After a succession of Windlaw corners, a scramble in Busby’s box saw an amazing escape as Davie McGinlay tried to force a goal and the ball struck the bar before being scrambled away. The same player was then unlucky after a Busby defender brilliantly blocked his close range effort.

Half Time: Busby 1 Windlaw  0

Windlaw took almost immediate charge of the second half and the play was mainly in Busby’s half. The Busby defenders were clattering through tackles regularly and eventually were punished as a free-kick was awarded 22 yards out. After the award,a melee ensued and the Busby keeper ran from his line and pushed McGinlay in the face. He could have seen red but was given a yellow. Worse punishment was to follow for him. James Fitzpatrick smashed the free-kick past the wall and through him for the equaliser.

Windlaw turned up the pressure in search of the winner. Both Kevin Black and Benny Carey struck the woodwork with headers and it began to look like it wasn’t to be. However on 85 minutes as the keeper parried a shot, the ball rebounded to Davie McGinlay and as he got his shot in just before the keeper’s challenge it went over. The ref deemed the keeper’s challenge dangerous and awarded a spot-kick.Thomas Taylor sent him the wrong way and rolled it in superbly. Windlaw seen out the remaining minutes without any danger to seal a good away win.

Full Time: Busby 1 Windlaw 2

Summing-Up: A deserved win for Windlaw albeit in controversial circumstances. Commitment was again good and the management will be reasonably pleased at the level of consistency being reached in the last few weeks.

Star Man- A tough call but James Fitzpatrick just edged Davie McGinlay for the award for his drive and commitment to get his team back into the game.
