Four changes from Monday’s horror show in Renfrew with Kevin McCann,Zanda Dougall,Tam Simpson and Thomas Taylor out for various reasons and Colin Carmichael, Eck McCaig, Liam McGeachy and Duncan McGregor all back in.
Half Time: Windlaw AFC 1 - 1 Alba Thistle
With the wind behind them, Windlaw dominated the bulk of the second half. They went in front after Eck McCaig curled a beauty of a shot off Stewarts left hand post that deserved a goal however the rebound fell neatly for Colin Carmichael who smashed home the rebound. Windlaw pressed for a third but couldn’t get it and Fakunle’s pace was always a threat for Alba. It was this acceleration that got them the equaliser after he outstripped last man McInally chasing a dink over the top and John Lunny was adjudged to have fouled him as he advanced on goal. The resultant penalty was duly potted and it was game on again. The game turned nasty as tempers between players boiled over as they awaited a free-kick but ref Murray did well to calm down a potentially volatile situation. With five minutes left, Alba got what they thought was the winner when sub McCulloch latched onto another chipped pass and crashed an angular finish in off the the underside of the bar from 16 yards. This looked to give Alba the win but two minutes later Eck McCaig hit back when he stroked home a composed low finish after a melee in the Alba box to level the scores.
Full Time: Windlaw AFC 3 - 3 Alba Thistle
Summing-Up: Another very poor performance with spurned chances and defensive frailties the order of the day. One point against the two bottom clubs in three days shows a season wasting away. |
